To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but ALLAH and Muhammad is ALLAH's Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him). 2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly. 3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity). 4. To perform Hajj (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca). 5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith Number 8)

Fasting is a shield or protection from the fire and from committing sins. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relation with his wife and quarreling, and if somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hands my soul is' The unpleasant smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of ALLAH than the smell of musk. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him. The piety is here, (and while saying so) he pointed towards his chest thrice. In it ALLAH has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived." (Sunan an-Nasa'i, Kitab Al-Siyam, Hadith Number 2106, Classification of Hadith: Sahih)
Narrated Al-Nu'man bin Bashir (ALLAH Bless With Him): The Messenger of ALLAH (Peace Be Upon Him) used to recite at the two 'Ids (festivals) and on Friday, "Glorify the name of your most high Lord." (Surah Al-A'la 87) and "Has the story of the overwhelming reached you?" (Surah Al-Ghashiyah 88) He said: When a festival ('Id) and a Friday coincided, he recited them both (at the two prayers). (Sunan Abi Dawud, Kitab Al-Salat, Hadith Number 1122, Classification of Hadith: Sahih)
Narrated Ma'mar bin Abi Ma'mar (ALLAH Bless With Him): The Messenger of ALLAH (Peace Be Upon Him) said, "No one withholds goods till their price rises but a sinner." (Sunan Abi Dawud, Kitab Al-Ijarah, Hadith Number 3447, Classification of Hadith: Sahih)
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (ALLAH Bless With Him): The Messenger of ALLAH (Peace Be Upon Him) said, "It is enough falsehood for a man to relate everything he hears." (Sunan Abi Dawud, Kitab Al-Adab, Hadith Number 4992, Classification of Hadith: Sahih)
Narrated Salman bin Amir Dabbi (ALLAH Bless With Him): The Messenger of ALLAH (Peace Be Upon Him) said, "Charity given to the poor is charity, and that given to a relative is two things: charity and upholding the ties of kinship." (Sunan Ibn Majah, Kitab Al-Zakat, Hadith Number 1844, Classification of Hadith: Sahih) But if these relatives are among those on whom you are obliged to spend, but you give them your zakaah so that you can save money, then that is not permissible. But if your wealth is not sufficient to spend on them, then there is nothing wrong with giving them some of your zakaah. Similarly, if they are in debt and you pay off their debts from your zakaah, there is nothing wrong with your doing that, because a person is not obliged to pay off his relative’s debt, so if he pays it off from his zakaah then that is fine. Even if it is your son or your father who owes a debt to someone and cannot pay it off, it is permissible for you to pay it off from your zakaah. From the fatwas of Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (May ALLAH have mercy on him). Fatawa al-Shaykh Muhammad al-Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen, 1/461.
Narrated Uqbah ibn Amir (ALLAH Bless With Him): The Messenger of ALLAH (Peace Be Upon Him) said, "The day of Arafah, the day of sacrifice, the days of tashriq are (the days of) our festival, O people of Islam. These are the days of eating and drinking." (Sunan Abi Dawud, Kitab Al-Siyam, Hadith Number 2419, Classification of Hadith: Sahih) Ruling of Fasting on The Day of Arafah: Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (May ALLAH Have Mercy on Him) was asked: What is the ruling on fasting the day of ‘Arafah for non-pilgrims and pilgrims? He replied: Fasting on the day of ‘Arafah for non-pilgrims is a confirmed Sunnah. The Messenger of ALLAH (Peace Be Upon Him) was asked about fasting on the day of ‘Arafah and he said: “I ask ALLAH that it may expiate for (the sins of) the year that comes before it and the year that comes after it.” According to another report he said: “It expiates for the past and coming years.” As for the pilgrim, it is not Sunnah for him to fast on the day of ‘Arafah, because the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) did not fast on the day of ‘Arafah during the Farewell Pilgrimage. In Saheeh al-Bukhaari it is narrated from Maymoonah (ALLAH Bless With Her) that the people were not sure whether the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) was fasting on the day of ‘Arafah, so she sent him some milk when he was standing in ‘Arafah, and he drank it whilst the people were looking on.
